Love As A Radical Act Of Rebellion

This poem flowed through me while after seeing posts about the Hurricane damages on the US East Coast, the escalating bombings in the Middle East, and reflecting on National Reconciliation Day in Canada. I have been feeling a tug toward expressing myself through creativity across different mediums and these words feel like a representation of how I feel about the way in which we are collectively walking upon our Mother Earth.

I invite you to read the words and allow the reflections and contemplations to settle into your heart where you can fully feel and digest them. Perhaps notice any bias, judgement or resistance that may arise within you as you read and see if you can observe the experience with curiousity while inviting yourself to explore deeper.

We are all in this together.

With Love and Gratitude,
Dylan

As the fires of our world continue to spread across many lands
Unquenchable Consumption of life — choked by the greed and pain of human hands
A tank driven by fear and hate, absent of soul
We collectively tumble further and further into this hole.

Fear not, for that is a trap
Hate not, for that is how they widen our gap
Free fall out of your mind and into your heart
Return home to your compass, your sacred map

For it is in the vast spaciousness of your soul
that you remember how:
I am you,
You are me,
We are we,
And together we are whole.

You are a warrior of love, a guardian of peace
Your sword cuts through the illusion of separation
Your bombs blast the convenience of disassociation
Remove the shackles of the corrupt nations,
And make this amnesia cease.

In a world that feeds off of fear and hate
Love harder, more deeply and embrace this divine fate
We are here, in this moment in time
To stand together, and let our collective light shine.

So allow the pain in, feel the despair
Venture into your depths, allow yourself a moment there
For it is in this pain that the heart can break wide open —
Feel its expansiveness, its power, and let hope in.

Love with all your might
Love as if it’s your greatest fight
Love as if our Mother Earth and all her children depend on it — they do
Love with all your soul, we are counting on you.

Together we rise
United we rise
In love we rise
